Can I tell you a little secret?
I want to draw comics. I want to tell stories.
One day, I want to draw a graphic novel.
My art journey started with painting foods. I LOVE foods, especially snacks and desserts. I will never NOT love those things. But despite knowing how to paint the perfect strawberry, I want to go deeper and share that strawberry’s story.
Like how it’s been sitting there ready to be picked by a little girl who came to visit her grandma in the summer.
And then it does get picked and it fulfills its journey and it creates a special shared memory between two people.
Anyway.
I’ve been practicing 4 panel comic drawings for the last few weeks. I am challenging myself to do one a day, so long as they just tell a story, no matter how trivial. I’m building up my visual vocabulary and also practicing the skill of story-telling.
Here’s another secret-thing I came to realize: I really wish I could be a better story-teller than a drawer/painter. I guess I got some work to do.
Thanks for being here, thanks for sharing this (more quiet) space with me, sweet friend.
